Chosen Commander Of The Unsullied...

The sixth season of HBO's Game of Thrones doesn't start until this April, but Dark Horse has your fantasy fix now. Following the December release of Jorah Mormont and Sansa Stark comes the chosen commander of the Unsulllied, Grey Worm! A warrior whose reputation for combat is without equal, Grey Worm is also a main advisor to Daenerys Targaryen.

Grey Worm is an exciting addition to the series. While it's hard to top the armored looks of The Hound and Brienne, Grey Worm delivers some exotic variety to the line with his streamlined weapons an attire. His long spear brings the figure's height to a staggering 12-inches tall and the round shield, a first for the series, is rendered with a realistic sculpt and paint apps.

Damaged Heroes, Crazy Villains, & Zombies From Comics & TV...

We can’t get enough zombies, and McFarlane Toys satisfies our need for gore with great products celebrating both the comic book and TV universes of The Walking Dead. At New York Toy Fair 2016 the toy maverick showed off a slew of new and upcoming toys across various lines, and we’ve got the photos to prove it! Rick and Michonne will be among the headliners in the new 7 inch line of figures in the Color Tops Collector Series (featuring top notch sculpts, about 14 points of articulation serving the pose and look, and a display base in a collector friendly color-coded box for around $17), and Travis joins them as the debut Fear the Walking Dead figure.

The next resin release from the Walking Dead is Negan from the comics, and he looks absolutely unstoppable swinging his signature weapon Lucille atop a massive pile of walkers. There are nine zombies in total and on and among them you’ll find all sorts of easter eggs referring to things the villain has done in the comics. This statue is also the first to incorporate magnets for super easy assembly.

Leader of the White Walkers...

Dark Horse Deluxe has revealed the latest figure in an ongoing series of characters from the critically acclaimed HBO series Game of Thrones: the Night King.

The masterfully sculpted figure finely details the leader of the White Walkers. It measures eight inches in height and is packaged in a collectors’ window box.

The Night King will be the twenty-fourth figure in the series and is slated for in-store release in September of 2016.

“The Night King’s confrontation with Jon Snow in the aftermath of the Hardhome battle is one of the most dramatic moments of Game of Thrones to date. We are very excited to have captured the power of this character in a stunning new figure,” Dark Horse Product Development head David Scroggy remarked.

Additional Game of Thrones characters are in development for release in summer and fall 2016. The Night King figure will be joined by Ygritte, Margaery Tyrell, Oberyn Martell, Grey Worm, and Varys.

Dark Horse also recently announced a limited-edition bust statue of the Night King, which will be released in March 2016.

Game of Thrones figures have a suggested retail price of $24.99 and are packaged in deluxe window box packaging.

 

 
McFarlane Toys will be coming out a new 10″ Vigilante Rick Grimes figure this year that features the red machete, and bloody arm and face.

Singapore Figure Exclusive Hits the USA...

This time taking a look at Bandai's 8-inch LION-O (Mumm-Ra Version). This red evil version of the leader of the ThunderCats was exclusive to the 2012 Singapore Toy, Game & Comic Convention, but thanks to an exclusive distribution deal with BigBadToyStore.com, fans in the U.S. can get their hands on one. Just in time for the holidays, Dark Horse has released another two character wave of Game of Thrones figures. The assortment is a much appreciated one-two punch for collectors of this series, following the just-released figures of The Hound and Brienne of Tarth

Mattel revealed their line-up for their upcoming ThunderCats Classics Third Earth Subscription:

Dead (?) and Alive: The Hound and Brienne of Tarth...

While all eyes are currently on The Walking Dead (and everyone's mind on the new Star Wars movie), HBO's Game of Thrones is still a force to be reckoned with. Five seasons strong, Game of Thones is the best sword-swinging series on television (something the Bastard Executioner can't say), with legions of fans eagerly awaiting Season 6's premiere in April. When it comes to Game of Thrones collectibles, figures in particular, Dark Horse now leads the pack, long leaving Funko's Legacy Collection trailing in the dust with character selection. Dark Horse appears to be in it for the long haul, a very good thing for GOT fans wanting to collect every major character on the show - dead or alive.

New Pop and Dorbz!...

While arguably not as large as The Simpsons, Matt Groening's other animated series - Futurama - still carries with it a very devoted fan base. And where there's fans, collectibles aren't too far behind! Funko continues to tap Futurama's appeal with a second assortment of POP vinyl figures. This Februrary assortment brings collectors the mad scientist Professor Farnsworth, Decapodian doctor Zoidberg, heroic 25-Star General Zapp Brannigan, and everyone's favorite Nibblonian, Nibbler.

As announced at San Deigo Comic-Con, Mattel is bringing back the animated '80s series Thundercats as a new line of action figures. The subscription service, called Club Third Earth, has now opened its doors with "Single Ship" and Monthly Ship" options available.

Fun Figures With A Retro 8-Bit Design...

The last time SD Toys visited the geek comedy The Big Bang Theory, the Spanish toy maker had released more traditional figures of Sheldon and Howard. Now SD Toys is presenting the entire cast of the hit sitcom as part of their new line of Pixel mini figures! First unveiled at last year's New York Comic Con , the Pixel collection transforms popular TV and movie characters into blocky 8-bit looking figures. It's a fun, retro approach to toy collectibles, the line debuting with two waves of Big Bang Theory figures, and later expanding to include such other popular film's as The Matrix and The Warriors.

HODOR! ...and Bran are up next in Dark Horse's extensive ‪Game of Thrones‬ figure series. Like the books, we sorely missed the pair in Season 5 that just ended, but my bet is that they'll be back as main characters come next year. This is hands down the largest (and nicest) figure in the line so far, the gentle giant and his fragile boy cargo measuring close to 9 1/2-inches tall. Like two figures in one, Hodor and Bran make for an essential addition to your Game of Thrones figure display or they look great on their own as a standalone piece.

Ideal For Walking Dead Fans, Model-Makers, & Brick-Building Enthusiasts...

When news first hit that McFarlane Toys was going to give fans building sets based on The Walking Dead, I was interested to see what would come of it. Todd McFarlane arguably created the modern figure collectibles industry, and his company’s ongoing commitment to realistic, highly detailed aesthetics seemed to clash with the usual cartoonish worlds in brick-building toy patterns.

Cersei, Jaime and the Eagerly Awaited White Walker...

It seems just like yesterday that fans received the third wave of Game of Thrones figures from Dark Horse . Actually is was last month, still an impressive turnaround for the release of this fourth figure assortment. Where Series 3 focused on House Stark, Series 4 delivers fans the Lannisters, specifically the cringe-inducing incestuous brother/sister duo of Cersei Baratheon (her married name - yes, it is awkward) and Jaime Lannister. Cersei was and still is a character fans love to hate, though Jaime's honorable transformation has placed him squarely on my "like" list. To top things off, Dark Horse gives Game of Thrones fans the long anticipated release of a White Walker. Four seasons in and we still don't know much about these mysterious zombie-like creatures. Priced at $22.99 each and available for order at many fine retailers including BigBadToyStore.com, this assortment includes the powerful warlord of the Dothraki people, Khal Drogo, former head of House Stark, Ned Stark, and the quick-witted "Imp", Tyrion Lannister. Daenerys of House Targaryen and Jon Snow, a valiant steward in the Night's Watch, launched this detailed figure series back in January.

The great thing about action figure collecting is that there are so many different genres represented. There's a little something for everyone, including sci-fi, fantasy, horror, comedy and drama. If it's a popular subject, odds are that an action figure exists. Hit television series' are no different, even ones you'd never suspect toy collectibles from. Remember McFarlane's LOST? Now you can add AMC's hit series Breaking Bad to that list. While widely regarded as one of the greatest television series of all time, action figures of a high school chemistry-teacher-turned-methamphetamine-maker NEVER crossed my mind. Oddly enough, despite the show's mature drug-themed storyline and unassuming appearance of the lead character, Mezco Toyz makes it work.
