NECA Pacific Rim CHERNO ALPHA

Come To Daddy. My Favorite Jaeger Gets Supersized...

NECA Pacific Rim 18" CHERNO ALPHA

I love all the giant robots in Pacific Rim, but my absolute favorite is the Mark-1 Russian Jaeger, Cherno Alpha. When at long last NECA released the Cherno Alpha as part of their third assortment of 8" action figures, I let out a huge sigh of relief - my collection was complete. Ah, but was it? Around the same time NECA made it known that they would be super-sizing the Cherno as part of their towering 18 inch figure series. How could I resist? Priced at $99.99, the 18" Cherno Alpha does not come cheap. However, to own a Pacific Rim Jaeger (especially your favorite!) at this scale in such detailed, articulated toy form is a jaw-dropping experience. To me it's well worth the investment (which let’s face it, is far cheaper than 12" action figures on the market today... and it's almost twice the size!).

NECA's Pacific Rim Series 4

Tacit Ronin and "Hong Kong Brawl" Gipsy Danger Join The Fight...

NECA's Pacific Rim Series 4
NECA was kind enough to provide us with early production samples of their latest Pacific Rim action figure wave. In stores this November, this assortment focuses squarely on the Jaegers - the hero robots of the epic 2013 sci-fi film (of which TWO new sequels were just announced!). Jaegers in this wave include a new and improved "Hong Kong Brawl" Gipsy Danger, the figure sporting finer sculpted details, interchangeable fists and ship that the robot can wield in battle like a giant club! Most exciting is the arrival of an all-new, heavily fan-requested Jaeger: the Tacit Ronin. Shown very briefly in the beginning of the movie, this "prologue Jaeger" will excite collectors with its two extending arm blades and sleek good looks.

NECA's Pacific Rim Series 3 Action Figures

NECA's Biggest (And Best) Assortment To Date...

NECA's latest batch of 7-inch scale Pacific Rim action figures have been released... and it's NECA's biggest (and best) assortment to date. Series 3 is bigger not only because it contains four figures (opposed to three), but the Kaiju in this wave - Trespasser and Battle Damaged Knifehead - are absolutely gigantic! The success of this line has allowed NECA the freedom to make their Pacific Rim figures more accurate to scale and to create more B-list characters - such as Coyote Tango - that otherwise might not have seen release. Last but not least, Pacific Rim Series 3 stars the much requested Cherno Alpha, my personal favorite mech in the movie. As announced at Toy Fair, this amazing Jaeger design will receive the 18" quarter scale treatment later this year. This assortment is in stores now, each Jaeger retailing for about $20, while the much larger Kaiju (they're HUGE!) cost closer to $30 each. For those looking to get all four figures, many retailers are offering the Jaegers and Kaiju as sets (NOT packaged 2-packs), which will save you a few bucks.

NECA's Pacific Rim GIPSY DANGER

A Big Pacific Rim Collectible For The Big Pacific Rim Fan...

NECA's Pacific Rim GIPSY DANGER

Even though I own several NECA Quarter Scale action figures, I still can't get over just how big they are. 18 inches big. That doesn't sound all that grand in writing, but seeing one of these figures in person - especially displayed next to smaller figures (which is about every other toy out there) - is a real eye opener. NECA's latest license to receive this towering toy treatment is Pacific Rim kicking off with the film's starring hero robot, the Gipsy Danger. While the Gipsy Danger is not even close to being true "Quarter Scale" (it'd be a 65 foot tall toy!) - it's still 18 inches big. The Gipsy Danger looks great alongside NECA's other Quarter Scale offerings (Predator vs. Jaeger!) and truly commands one's toy display. Fully articulated, the 18" Gipsy Danger includes twin chain blades and a cool light-up feature and retails for around $84.99 (act now if you want one, many retailers have already sold out!).
