In the popular Star Wars Clone Wars animated series, Clone Commander Wolffe, or CC-3636, served in the Clone Army under Jedi Master Plo Koon, assigned to the 104th Wolfpack Company. Commander Wolffe has appeared across several seasons of the cartoon, and often changing looks each time. Sideshow Collectibles once again has done an admirable job with their latest sixth scale Clone release, giving fans a definitive Clone Commander Wolffe along with some of his more iconic looks as well.
What makes this Clone Commander release even more special are the various included portraits you have the option to display. There’s a total of four heads included: Wolffe portrait with a fresh injury on his right eye from Season 3, Phase 1 helmet from Season 3, Wolffe head with enhanced cybernetic eye implant from Season 4, and Phase 2 helmet from Season 4. No exclusive purchase is required to get these different portraits either, which is pretty cool!
Wolffe also comes with a few other accessories necessary for any Clone, including two blaster pistols (with holsters), an EMP Grenade (Droid Poppers), Blaster Rifle, and a jetpack that attaches to Wolffe’s back via magnet. The jetpack stays on pretty good but comes off very easily when handling. Still, it’s a lot better than any other method.
While you don’t need to purchase an exclusive to get all the different heads with Commander Wolffe, there is an exclusive edition available from Sideshow that comes with a Commander Wolffe CC-3636 Display Base with his Wolfpack Logo. The exclusive base comes in white and definitely pops with the Wolfpack colors. The normal edition comes with a standard Clone Wars display base.
In addition to the usual weapons and display stands, Clone Commander Wolffe also has an arsenal of hands that each have their own pegs for easy swapping. Hot Toys hands all generally share the same peg, making swapping a little more than a nuisance. Here, each hand (13 in all) can be switched out without breaking a sweat. Same goes to the swappable feet that makes it somewhat easier for Wolffe to tackle those crouching battle stances, although I found it still proves pretty difficult with all the armor.
Speaking of armor, Wolffe’s armor is mostly the standard issue clone trooper armor but decked out with Wolfpack colors. His shoulder does feature a reinforced com-link antenna as well as a rangefinder on both of his included helmets. A fabric kama completes his lower uniform like it does most of the other commanders. Underneath it all is the standard issue black body suit.
Sculpting on the heads is very strong and pretty much on par with Hot Toys quality. Since the sixth scale Star Wars figures are all designed to fit the more realistic live-action feature films, all of the Clones are sculpted to match, and they’ve done a good mix of capturing a realistic look to the toon. Although, maybe it should resemble the actor who played Jango Fett more, no?
Paint for the said head sculpts is also well done, as is the paint work on the armor. Scuffs, blasts marks and scarring are heavily featured throughout the armor and shows that these clones have earned their ranks.
While Commander Wolffe isn’t as recognizable to film fans as Commander Cody was, Commander Wolffe along with Captain Rex are all stars in their own right and make great additions to your Star Wars display. While Sideshow has marvelously provided fans with two phases of helmets, there’s still other versions of Commander Wolffe that can be made and if there’s enough demand, they just might do it. Coming in 2015 already is a second version of Captain Rex, so anything is possible!
