Hot Toys SPIDER-MAN (Black Suit Version)

Spidey's Back In Black and He's Bringing The Sandman With Him Too...

Hot Toys SPIDER-MAN (Black Suit Version)

Despite the new Spider-Man movie reboot in theaters, Hot Toys continues to produce figures from Sam Raimi's Spider-Man Trilogy, mainly pulling from Spider-Man 3, which still rings pretty rotten in my mind. But even with Spider-Man 3 not living up to my expectations, figures and characters in toy form can become whatever you want them to be. With their Movie Masterpiece Series #165, Hot Toys gives us Spider-Man in his black symbiote suit that is excellently made and they also sweeten the deal by including a Sandman diorama base and a alternate portrait of Peter Parker as played by Tobey Maguire.

Kotobukiya DC Comics HARLEY QUINN Bishoujo Statue

Kotobukiya’s Bishoujo Statue line has been a huge hit with comic book fans, and for good reason. We all love statues of pretty ladies, but there’s only so many you can collect before they all start looking the same. Koto, however, takes the traditional female superheroes and villains of the DC Comics universe and reinvents them in the unique Japanese Bishoujo (“pretty girl”) style as imagined by famed illustrator Shunya Yamashita. The ever-growing collection has brought such heavenly bodies as Supergirl, Batgirl, Poison Ivy, and more. Today we’ll take a look at the next member of this elite club due out next month, the popular and irascible Harley Quinn!

Dark Horse GAME OF THRONES Figures - Series 7

Dead (?) and Alive: The Hound and Brienne of Tarth...

Dark Horse GAME OF THRONES Figures - Series 7

While all eyes are currently on The Walking Dead (and everyone's mind on the new Star Wars movie), HBO's Game of Thrones is still a force to be reckoned with. Five seasons strong, Game of Thones is the best sword-swinging series on television (something the Bastard Executioner can't say), with legions of fans eagerly awaiting Season 6's premiere in April. When it comes to Game of Thrones collectibles, figures in particular, Dark Horse now leads the pack, long leaving Funko's Legacy Collection trailing in the dust with character selection. Dark Horse appears to be in it for the long haul, a very good thing for GOT fans wanting to collect every major character on the show - dead or alive.

Militaries of Star Wars - Infantry Battle Droids

"Roger roger." - Battle Droid

Militaries of Star Wars - Infantry Battle Droids
Sideshow Collectibles and Star Wars have been a force to be reckoned with for a while but due to the scale and assortment of characters, it’s been a seemingly longer time before the many Clone Troopers have had a target to shoot at. Now available through Sideshow and other online retailers are the Infantry Battle Droids, the “inferior” army of robots introduced in Star Wars Episode I The Phantom Menace. I for one loved Doug Chiang’s designs for Episode I and especially of the Battle Droids. The skeletal frail bodies make it understandable why an army of these droids wouldn’t stand the test of time but after getting Sideshow’s take, we can almost get a sense of how they could work in the real world.

Hot Toys Guardians of the Galaxy Rocket & Groot

The Coolest Couple Of A-Holes In The Galaxy...

Hot Toys Guardians of the Galaxy Rocket & Groot
Guardians of the Galaxy is a property I love. I’ve been reading their adventures in comics for years (since the birth of the modern team coming out of the “Annihilation” events), and 2014’s blockbuster film awesomely made my favorite characters like Rocket Raccoon, Groot, and the rest household names and cultural icons. Before the movie Guardians toys were relatively infrequent, but ever since there’s been a deluge ranging from Hasbro’s mass market items to specialty and import collectibles. In general I stick to small-scale toys, mainly collecting the 3 ¾ inch scale, but for my Guardians I’ve expanded into bigger and bigger... and they don’t get much bigger and more impressive than Hot Toys’ fantastic 1/6th action figures. Today I’ll be sharing a look at the Hot Toys Guardians of the Galaxy Rocket & Groot two-pack, quite possibly the be all and end all collectible for these two characters packed with fun accessories, interchangeable parts, and of course industry-leading sculpts.

Playmates Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles GIANT LEONARDO PLAYSET

A Party In A Half Shell...

Playmates Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles GIANT LEONARDO PLAYSET
When it comes to action figures and the playsets they inhabit, one common problem is that the playset always looks like a mess. Second problem is that they take up so much space when not in use. And a third optional problem is, “I don’t have enough giant turtles in my house”. Playmates Toys has attempted to solve all of these issues in one go with their latest GIANT LEONARDO PLAYSET, part of their continuing “Mutations” line-up in the successful Nickelodeon Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles brand.

NECA's Commando John Matrix Ultimate Action Figure

NECA's Commando John Matrix Ultimate Action Figure

NECA's latest "Ultimate" 7-inch scale action figure has hit retail: Arnold Schwarzenegger as John Matrix from 1985's shoot 'em up Commando. Where previous NECA Ultimate releases have seen great past figures re-released with tons of gear and accessories (T-800, Freddy and Leatherface), Commando is an all-new license and the first time collectors have been treated to this character. Making Commando an Ultimate figure was a smart move. While NECA could have turned this into a full series (John Matrix with missile launcher, John Matrix shirtless with shotgun, etc. etc), Commando isn't quite the same caliber movie as say, Predator or Terminator. In other words, doing a full Commando figure line would have been risky. As an Ultimate release, NECA is able to get this cool classic out as a one-off - fully locked and loaded.
