McFarlane The Walking Dead Building Sets

Ideal For Walking Dead Fans, Model-Makers, & Brick-Building Enthusiasts...

McFarlane The Walking Dead Building Sets
When news first hit that McFarlane Toys was going to give fans building sets based on The Walking Dead, I was interested to see what would come of it. Todd McFarlane arguably created the modern figure collectibles industry, and his company’s ongoing commitment to realistic, highly detailed aesthetics seemed to clash with the usual cartoonish worlds in brick-building toy patterns.

Hot Toys 1:6 Predator 2 - ELDER PREDATOR 2.0

A Classic Returns New and Improved...

Hot Toys 1:6 Predator 2 - ELDER PREDATOR 2.0
My, how times have changed. The last time collectors received the Elder Predator from Hot Toys was way back in 2003, a very different time where all Hot Toys figures required you to assemble them. And I'm not talking about simply gearing up the figure with weapons and accessories. No, these were dark days that required you to actually place the limbs on the body and actually dress the figure up in clothing (in the case of the Predators, that included the body netting, armor... the whole enchilada). A company can learn a lot in twelve years, so much so that Hot Toys has decided to revisit many of their past releases and update them for old and new collectors alike.

Hot Toys 1:6 Thor: The Dark World - LOKI

The Norse God of Mischief Returns...

Hot Toys 1:6 Thor: The Dark World - LOKI

Not many villains make the cut when it comes to Hot Toys' sixth scale figures. One of the lucky candidates to receive the collectible figural treatment is none other than the god of mischief Loki. This iconic villain made his figural debut as part of the wildly popular Avengers movie collection, however this particular villain has become so popular among fans that he has become the first Marvel villain to receive a second collectible movie figure within Hot Toys’ movie masterpiece collection. Based on the second installment in the Thor movie saga, this new version of Loki is based on his look in the Thor: The Dark World.

NECA Pacific Rim CHERNO ALPHA

Come To Daddy. My Favorite Jaeger Gets Supersized...

NECA Pacific Rim 18" CHERNO ALPHA

I love all the giant robots in Pacific Rim, but my absolute favorite is the Mark-1 Russian Jaeger, Cherno Alpha. When at long last NECA released the Cherno Alpha as part of their third assortment of 8" action figures, I let out a huge sigh of relief - my collection was complete. Ah, but was it? Around the same time NECA made it known that they would be super-sizing the Cherno as part of their towering 18 inch figure series. How could I resist? Priced at $99.99, the 18" Cherno Alpha does not come cheap. However, to own a Pacific Rim Jaeger (especially your favorite!) at this scale in such detailed, articulated toy form is a jaw-dropping experience. To me it's well worth the investment (which let’s face it, is far cheaper than 12" action figures on the market today... and it's almost twice the size!).

NECA's Pacific Rim Series 4

Tacit Ronin and "Hong Kong Brawl" Gipsy Danger Join The Fight...

NECA's Pacific Rim Series 4
NECA's Pacific Rim Series 4
NECA was kind enough to provide us with early production samples of their latest Pacific Rim action figure wave. In stores this November, this assortment focuses squarely on the Jaegers - the hero robots of the epic 2013 sci-fi film (of which TWO new sequels were just announced!). Jaegers in this wave include a new and improved "Hong Kong Brawl" Gipsy Danger, the figure sporting finer sculpted details, interchangeable fists and ship that the robot can wield in battle like a giant club! Most exciting is the arrival of an all-new, heavily fan-requested Jaeger: the Tacit Ronin. Shown very briefly in the beginning of the movie, this "prologue Jaeger" will excite collectors with its two extending arm blades and sleek good looks.

Dark Horse GAME OF THRONES Figures - Series 4

Cersei, Jaime and the Eagerly Awaited White Walker...

Dark Horse GAME OF THRONES Figures - Series 4

It seems just like yesterday that fans received the third wave of Game of Thrones figures from Dark Horse . Actually is was last month, still an impressive turnaround for the release of this fourth figure assortment. Where Series 3 focused on House Stark, Series 4 delivers fans the Lannisters, specifically the cringe-inducing incestuous brother/sister duo of Cersei Baratheon (her married name - yes, it is awkward) and Jaime Lannister. Cersei was and still is a character fans love to hate, though Jaime's honorable transformation has placed him squarely on my "like" list. To top things off, Dark Horse gives Game of Thrones fans the long anticipated release of a White Walker. Four seasons in and we still don't know much about these mysterious zombie-like creatures. Here's hoping Season 5 clears things up. Dark Horse's Game of Thrones Series 4 figures are in-stock now at many fine retailers priced at a SRP of $22.99 each.

Art Figures 1:6 Heavy Armoured Special Cop (Dredd)

I Am The Law! Over 90 New Photos!...

Art Figures 1:6 Heavy Armoured Special Cop (Dredd)

Now here is a figure that took everybody by surprise: Art Figures' 1:6th scale Heavy Armoured Special Cop. There was no prior hype for this figure, just a sudden outpouring of pre-order announcements back in May. The reason is rather obvious: it's Judge Dredd. More precisely, it's Karl Urban as the popular 2000AD future law enforcer from the underrated 2012 sci-fi film, Dredd. Heavy Armoured Special Cop? I think not. The bottom line is this figure wasn't fully sanctioned by 2000AD. In fact, it appears the Heavy Armoured Special Cop's pre-order announcement took 2000AD by surprise as well, with an attempt to block the collectible's release soon after. I don't know the full details of the situation or how it was resolved (if it even was), as I'm one of those collectors that immediately placed his pre-order and quickly put it out of mind. Thinking about a figure you really want for months until it is finally released (or not) can drive you mad. However, I did catch rumblings of the drama this summer, prompting me to check on the figure's pre-order status. Still a go.

Bandai's BIG HERO 6 Deluxe Flying Baymax

Disney’s upcoming animated feature Big Hero 6, based on a Marvel Comics property, will be the studio’s shining achievement this November, a year after their monstrous hit, Frozen. Whereas Frozen won big with little girls everywhere, Big Hero 6 is hoping to achieve powerful sales with both demographics even if it skews mostly for boys. We spoke to one of the folks working at Bandai previously , but today we’re going to look at one of the larger toys released, DELUXE FLYING BAYMAX. Priced at retail for $39.99, this 11” toy is now available (if your store remembers to put the stock on the shelves – something that I’ve witnessed with no fewer than three major retailers).

Hot Toys Power Pose Mark XXXV RED SNAPPER

Second Power Pose Release Brings More "Power" and "Pose"...
Hot Toys Power Pose Mark XXXV RED SNAPPER

Following the release of the Iron Man Mark XLII earlier this year comes the second entry in Hot Toys' new Power Pose series, the Mark XXXV Red Snapper. The odd marriage of statue and figure, the original idea behind the Power Pose series was to allow Hot Toys to release increasingly complex 1:6th scale figures (so far consisting of Iron Man armors) with less articulation than a full-blown action figure at a more affordable price point. Of course a "more affordable price point" is all subjective as the new Power Pose Red Snapper retails for $254.99 ($100 more than the Power Pose MKXLII cost). While not cheap, I'd imagine the Snapper would be in the $300+ price range if Hot Toys was to include all the bells and whistles.

Hot Toys Man of Steel GENERAL ZOD

Kneel Before Zod!...

Hot Toys Man of Steel GENERAL ZOD

In Zach Snyder’s most recent Superman film, MAN OF STEEL, he cast actor Michael Shannon as the villainous General Zod. Shannon’s character spends much of the film convinced that the future of his Kryptonian race rests entirely upon his shoulders. With the new Movie Masterpiece 1:6th scale General Zod figure, his lunacy is expertly captured by the Hot Toys team. General Zod now joins Superman and Jor-El in Hot Toys Man of Steel collection.

Bandai SPRUKITS (Batman & Joker)

"Poseable Figural Model Kits" Hit The Market...

Bandai SPRUKITS (Batman & Joker)

Back in the older days of toys, model kits often competed for the attention of both kids and adults alike, offering a vast array of cars, planes, ships, tanks, Starship Enterprises... you name it. The model kits were often difficult because they required a lot of glue, scissors, and paint, and if you screwed something up, you were pretty much out of luck. Later on, Japanese toys became huge with Gundam, robot figure building sets that were a tad easier to build but still required a lot of attention to detail and patience. But now, from Bandai comes SPRUKITS: POSEABLE FIGURAL MODEL KIT. They require no glue, no scissors, and no paint. Pieces snap off and snap together and after some time and effort, your figure is done!

Hot Toys 1:6 Avengers: MMS230 Bruce Banner and Hulk

Hot Toys 1:6 Avengers: MMS230 Bruce Banner and Hulk
When it comes to Marvel film-based collectibles, Hot Toys has revolutionized the one-sixth collectibles market by consistently delivering incredible movie-based figures of all the latest films. The Avengers’ Movie Masterpiece Series has delivered one of the most diverse and robust assortment of heroes and villains ever produced under a single film license no to mention the most “Incredible” Hulk collectible figure to date. While collectors have been proudly displaying the big green guy on their toy shelves and curios, the gamma-infected Dr. Banner has been missing from the line, until now.

Sideshow 1:6 DELUXE CLONE TROOPER (212th ATTACK BATTALION)

Awesome Army-Builder For Your 12-Inch Collection...

Sideshow 1:6 DELUXE CLONE TROOPER (212th ATTACK BATTALION)
I love Clone Troopers. Packing way more personality than their bland later-saga Stormtrooper cousins, the Clone Troopers stood out with unique outfits and bold armor color. I've collected quite few of the soldiers in Hasbro's 3 3/4" scale, the orange striped "Utapau" Clone Troopers being my all-time favorites. Great color scheme aside, it was the fact that they were led by the ultra-cool Commander Cody that solidified my love of the 212th Attack Battalion.
